How to Join: Submitting Your First Senshi

General Rules

:bulletblue: There is no limit to how many deviations you can submit per day, but they must be relevant to the SMVillage group and its Events.

:bulletblack: Since we have relaunched as an art-only group, all submissions must be visual art in some shape or form. This includes drawings, comics, animations, and crafts, but unfortunately no longer includes writing submissions. You may, however, include written stories in the description of your art submission.

:bulletblue: All submissions must be completely original and high-effort. No scribbles, tracing, or dollmakers allowed! Any resources and stock images must be credited in the description. Don’t submit someone like Sailor Kawaii Sparkle Moon.

:bulletblack: This is a group that strongly emphasizes the importance of constructive critique and self-improvement. Expect that any work you submit may receive some sort of feedback. If this is not something you are comfortable with, we understand, but we do not recommend submitting to the group.

:bulletblue: We love your feedback, and will not hesitate to take action if your concerns ring true. We will be happy to elaborate on our decision making process for you no matter how insignificant you think your concerns are - but we’re more willing to help you out if you come to us privately.

:bulletblack: If you have any issues with the group or any of its members, send a note to the group. Please do not post public comments that may hurt people and create unnecessary drama. If we do not respond within two days, or this method is inappropriate for your issue, please send a personal note to thelettergii -- or, if the problem is about her, one of the other admins.

Submitting Your First Senshi

:bulletblue: Anyone who would like their OC to join SMVillage must fill out both the visual and written half of the Character Reference Template and submit their Character Reference to the “Character References” folder. The judges will then review your Character Reference. This isn’t an elite group where we only select the “best of the best”, but we are looking for quality and effort.

:bulletblack: Your OC must be a fanmade senshi in the Sailor Moon universe. They must have some variant of a sailor collar to be considered a Sailor Senshi; otherwise they will be classified as just senshi.

:bulletblue: You may submit one senshi or a team of up to four (4) senshi at a time. Each senshi on your team must follow all guidelines for an individual senshi. See Submitting Your First Team below for more team-related guidelines. For additional senshi or teams, see Submitting Additional Senshi.

:bulletblack: All content on the Character Reference must be created by you. Adoptables are allowed as long as you are drawing the art. Crossover senshi are generally not allowed.

:bulletblue: In general, canon names and admin senshi names should not be duplicated in any form (so no Neo Sailor Neptunes or Sailor Chibichaskas). Aside from canon and admin names we will not be enforcing a “only one senshi per name” rule, as multiple dimensions can lead to similar names. However, because we support originality, we would prefer not to see rather unusual names somehow repeated.

:bulletblack: All newcomer senshi start at the Basic tier -- no powers equivalent to Super, Eternal, or higher. The Village is filled with the magic of new beginnings. The moment your character enters the Village, their powers will revert back to when they were a basic-level senshi, and the only way they can regain their attacks and powers is to participate in the Village’s Events. One exception: If your senshi is of royal blood, then they may have their royal title and outfit as their civilian form. Please see Upgrading Your Characters for additional tiers.

:bulletblue: Characters may also have a Guardian or Guardians, as well as any additional non-weapon items that are important to their story, such as crystals (although none may be more powerful than the Silver Millennium Crystal/Ginzuishou).

:bulletblack: For the sake of continuity, any relations to canon senshi are highly discouraged. Canonically, Neo Queen Serenity is the most powerful senshi in the universe. Your character may not surpass her, any of the canon senshi, or the admin senshi in power.

:bulletblue: Admins may also create participating senshi (independent of the admin senshi) and participate in Events, but they must also follow these rules and guidelines. The admin can not judge or select features in any Events they partake in; these decisions must be made by non-participating admins.

Submitting Your First Team

:bulletblack: Teams are comprised of senshi who work together towards a common goal (such as the Starlights or Animamates). One Reference must be completed for each team member. There must be a team name and a team leader, so that other members can easily identify your team.

:bulletblue: A member may design all the teammates, or multiple members may create a team together. It is entirely up to you how you would like to split the work. Teams can be formed either before or after the senshi join the Village. Each senshi’s Reference must include the Team’s name, leader, and links to the other teammates’ References in the description before the senshi can be recognized as a Team.

Upgrading Your Characters

:bulletblack: All senshi in the Village start at the Basic tier. Senshi tiers are as follows:
Basic Senshi: A Basic-tier senshi may possess 1 Transformation Item, 1 Weapon, and 2 Attacks. If your senshi is a knight (i.e. they generally do not display magical powers) then they are allowed to have 2 Weapons and 1 Attack instead. As your senshi participates in Events hosted by the Village, they can earn more Attacks and Weapons.
Super Senshi: When a Basic senshi is upgraded to Super tier, they earn 1 Attack for a total of 3 Attacks.
Eternal Senshi: When a Super senshi is upgraded to Eternal tier, they earn 1 Attack and 1 Weapon for a total of 4 Attacks and 2 Weapons.
    Beyond Eternal Senshi: TBD

If your senshi is at a certain tier they do not need to have everything, this is just the maximum they can have.

:bulletblue: A senshi or team can earn an upgrade to the next tier by completing 10 Quests. If you have a team, 10 Quests must be completed for your whole team, not for each senshi, but each senshi on your team will earn the upgrade. When this has been fulfilled, they may send a note to the admins. In your note, you must include links to your 10 completed Quests. If your senshi have been actively participating and contributing positively, and your Quests are solid quality, we will probably approve without a doubt.

:bulletblack: When your request to upgrade has been approved, you are free to update your reference at any time. There is no deadline.

Submitting Additional Characters and NPCs

:bulletblue: If a participant wants to start using a different character or create a new team, they must have completed 10 Quests for all current characters. When this has been fulfilled, they may send a note to the admins. In your note, you must include links to your 10 completed Quests. If your senshi have been actively participating and contributing positively, and your Quests are solid quality, we will probably approve without a doubt.

:bulletblack: Additional characters can be active senshi or NPCs (non-player characters). NPCs perform some sort of job in the Village, i.e. storeowners or doctors. They are spectator characters who won’t be participating in any Events, and are just there to work in the Village and perhaps to be cameo’ed in other people’s entries. They are represented by a lock in the upper left corner of their Character Reference.

Hello, I have questions.
I joined this group some 3(?) years ago with a written reference sheet for a Sailor that has since had such a massive overhaul that she no longer resembles her original idea. I was taking exams at the time and thus never submitted anything for her, although there is one piece of artwork floating around that was drawn as a gift to me by another member. There were no crystals on the spreadsheet for her either.
Could you tell me whether this is a valid reference now please because I don't see her info in the database?
Also, if I wanted to use a different Sailor Senshi, do I still have to use the outdated version of the original sailor and do the 10 quests before I can change, or would it be possible for me to just dive in headfirst with a new Sailor?

Thanks.
